Our New Obsession: Typography

I'm not pretending I was the first one to discover this stationer's treat.  It's been used since your dad's garage band's tour promo.  But, now, it's made it's way onto the wedding scene as one of the newest ways of making a statement in your stationery.  Monograms?  Eh. Typography?  The latest rage.

One of the coolest things about typography is that it can be strangely vintage and modern at the same time.  It can go either way.  No matter what your styling scheme is, picking out the fonts that best match your style will give your guests a great introduction to your BrideStyle through your save-the-dates and invitations.  Then, carry the fonts throughout your menus, programs, place cards etc.  Check out a few examples...

I love how this incorporates cute little graphics.  This kind of eclectic style is huge in bridal right now.  Take a cue from this adorable save-the-date and introduce a bit of whimsy into your stationery by choosing simple clip-art to accent the fonts.

Romantic Modern: Keep your typographed invite soft and romantic by choosing a paper color that will allow for white type.

The studio that created this invite gives some great ways to keep your typography simple and easy to read.  This is a great example of a typographed invitation with no script fonts!

This is typographic perfection!  The fonts are clean and easy to read, but the colors and graphics make it interesting and eye-catching.

Ooh La La... Coco meets BrideStyle

A few weeks ago, we collaborated with some of the best vendors in the Baltimore metro area to produce a photo shoot that would illustrate how you can take an idea and translate it into a beautiful event.

We chose to be inspired by the classic, the beautiful, the original Coco Chanel.  The details were elegant, lush and reminiscent of an era of lavish soirees and couture frocks.  The romance of Chanel's 1930's France meets a touch of the drama of today's Chanel by Karl Lagerfield.

Is your style deeply inspired by the drama of the runway?  Let your lifestyle meet your BrideStyle...in a couture Chanel kind of way.

And check out our behind the scenes video by Buerhaus Design Videography!

Please check out our fabulous participating vendors:

1) Jennie Campbell Photography:  Jennie has an affinity for capturing weddings in an artistic, stunning way.  We had a great time working with her on this shoot, and her professionalism makes her work perfection.  She has some great experience in fashion photography, so if you're looking for a high-end photojournalistic style, book her for your day!  Plus, she's super fun!

2) Ann's Garden:  Laurie is an absolute visionary.  I came to her with this idea of a vintage Chanel inspired photo shoot, and she took the concept and translated it into an absolutely gorgeous floral that incorporated elements I had never even seen before.  If you want floral couture, she will create something that your guests will be in awe of.

3) Jordan Thomas Salon and Spa:  The girls at Jordan Thomas transformed our gorgeous models into breathtaking supermodels!  Karen, the resident makeup artist, showed a range of looks, from dramatic to playful to romantic, and nailed every one of them.  The girls hairstyles were soft and elegant, a trademark of Jordan Thomas style.

4) Party Plus Rentals:  From the tables to the linens, glassware and chandelier, Lauren at Party Plus helped us create a gorgeous set that would not have been possible with anyone else!  Their gorgeous black square chargers were a particular favorite of mine!  They can help you with lighting and specialty rentals.

5) Preston's Stationery:  Kim at Preston's took my idea and incorporated a gorgeous black and white damask motif into all of the stationery.  Her carefully handmade stationery pulled all of the decor together, from the table name to the menus and place cards.  If you want details that your guests will never forget, call Kim at Preston's!

6)  Faye Daniel Designs:  Working with Randie on this shoot absolutely amazed me.  Literally, anything you can think of, they can create.  They custom make hairpieces, fascinators, birdcage veils, jewelry, belts- custom anything!  Randie can help you take the most simple of gowns and make it a couture creation.

7) Flavor Cupcakery:  How about that cake?!  Absolutely stunning.  They took "Chanel" and ran with it, incorporating a quilting pattern, pearls, and gorgeous little flowers that exuded sophistication.  And, even though, you can't tell from the photos, their sweets taste even better than they look!

8) Buerhaus Design:  Matt was on set all day to capture all of the action of our shoot!  Specializing in a cinematic style, his videos will be a treasure for you and your future hubby for the rest of your lives.  Photography can capture the moments.  A videographer like Matt can capture the very essence of your day.

9) K&B Bridals and Event Planning:  All of these gorgeous gowns are courtesy of our bridal boutique and are designed by one of our favorite lines, WToo.  We also produced the concept, planning, and photo shoot styling.  We had so much fun putting this together and hope you can draw inspiration from our very own creation!

Something Blue

We know.  It's difficult to recover the use of your jaw after stumbling upon this jaw-dropper.  I had the same reaction when I first saw this to-die-for haute couture gown by Christian Dior, complete with a hand-painted petticoat.  This take on "something blue" is actually mind boggling and awe-inspiring at the same time- in a "why didn't I think of that?!" kind of way!  Now, while Dior is admittedly fabulous, this couture design will cost you a not-so-pretty penny.  Here's an alternative- buy a few bolts of fabric in a luscious hue of blue and have your seamstress line the inside skirt of your gown.  Can't you just see the pictures now?  Even better- when you bustle the skirt for your reception, you'll have a peek-a-boo blue that will stun your guests.
